Jim Ianello moved to Union in 1987 in search of rural life for his family. He has been a licensed Broker ever since. From 1991 to 1994, he was employed by People Heritage Bank, first as a mortgage originator and then in property management and OREO sales. The following six years he specializes in commercial real estate in the Rockland market. he operated Sterlingtown Realty from 2001 to 2006, later known as Rock Maple Realty prior to merging with Cates Real Estate in March 2014. Jim has a degree in electrical engineering from Tufts University, worked at Massachusetts General Hospital for 15 years, then in computer instrumentation sales and service before trekking north. He has served on various town committees, including Conservation, Comprehensive Plan, Ordinance Review, and Affordable Housing, as well as Chairman of the Thompson Community Center. Jim interest includes building renovations, furniture making, skiing, camping, and biking. He enjoys finding creative solutions to problems in real estate but derives his greatest satisfaction in helping clients purchase their first home.
